    January 22, 2024 — In a landmark discussion, Honourable Vidura Wickramanayaka – Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, engaged in a comprehensive dialogue with ISMMART Group of Industries delegation. This dynamic exchange unveiled promising prospects for global expansion and cultural enrichment within Sri Lanka.

     

    Kicking off the dialogue, Mr. Naveed Motiwala – General Manager ISMMART Group of Industries  provided an insightful introduction of the company. Seeking support from the esteemed Minister, discussions revolved around the diverse industries the group is poised to explore.

     

    Responding to the Minister's inquiry, ISMMART's representative highlighted the group's interest in Banking and Pharmaceutical sectors as part of its global expansion strategy. The Minister acknowledged the potential of these sectors and their significance in the global market.

     

     Mr. Lawrence Tay presented an engaging 5-minute ISMMART’s  Global Footprint video, capturing the Minister's attention. The Minister, eager for details, inquired about the timeline for ISMMART's establishment in Sri Lanka, anticipating the infusion of the group's global expertise into the local landscape.

     

    Minister Vidura Wickramanayaka, displaying a forward-thinking approach, extended a generous offer of 5 hectares of prime land near the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Envisioning its transformation into a bustling commercial hub, the Minister identified this initiative as an opportunity to cater to the needs of transit individuals, filling a void similar to that in Singapore.

     

     Revealing a vast canvas of possibilities, the Minister shared insights into an additional 100 hectares of land available for commercial development. This included shopping malls, offices, amusement parks, and hospitality services. Notably, he invited ISMMART to pioneer cultural and heritage tours within the leased spaces, aiming to create a harmonious blend of commerce and cultural experiences.

     

    In a noteworthy commitment, Minister Wickramanayaka expressed support for ISMMART's potential entry into the pharmaceutical sector. He offered the assistance of the Board of Investment (BOI) in providing suitable land for the establishment of a Pharmaceutical Plant.

     

    Building on ISMMART's successful ventures in various nations, the company is optimistic about extending its achievements to Sri Lanka.
